The Bowed
Psaltery is an easy to play instrument, even if you don’t know anything about music.
It is played by using a
bow to play one string at a time. An easy to follow number system makes it possible to
learn quickly. The included instruction book explains holding and bowing the psaltery as
well as how to use the numbers and even how to read music if you want to learn. Everything
you need to play is included with your Psaltery.Our Bowed Psalteries are hand made in our
shop and constructed of Quality materials.
When building our psalteries we use a hardwood frame with a hard maple pin block. Solid
Walnut or Butternut tops provide excellent tone and volume. Our 30 and 24 string models
include a solid wood rosette inlaid into the soundhole. All of our bowed psalteries
include a bow, tuning wrench, rosin, extra strings, and instruction book.
Our 30 string model measures 21" by 7.5" and has more then 2 chromatic octaves with a range from F to A". The 24 string model measures 19" by 7" and has a 2 octave range from G to G".
Our 13 string psaltery is tuned to the key of "D" so that it can easily be played along with the Mountain Dulcimer in the key of "D". Mountain Dulcimer tablature books can be used to help learn this model and it is ideal for easily and quickly playing duets and harmony parts.
